After returning from the Viet Nam War, Franco discovered Tai Chi. In 1984, after years of personal training with the late Master Jou, Tsung Hwa, he went to China for study at the Beijing Institute of Physical Education. From there he visited with Tai Chi schools in Hong Kong and Taiwan. This is where he learned the authentic method of Tai Chi.
Now, the retired bluegrass musician hopes to pass on the many health benefits of Tai Chi to others, especially retirees, whose health often deteriorates in a less-than-active lifestyle, he said.
Adrian received her Bai Shi on March 30, 2018 in a ceremony held by Dojo Master Victor Franco, MCed by Walter Wilowatyj and witnessed by many Dojo students, her family and her friends. She received the Scroll of Lineage from Master Victor Franco. Grandmaster Jou, Tsung Hwa taught Victor Franco who taught Adrian VanKeuren. The Bai Shi is given only to a very select few gifted Tai Chi students at the consent of the Dojo Master.
Adrian brings over 900 hours of combined classroom and teachings hours in Tai Chi. She had previously held a position as an Associate Instructor at the Tai Chi Dojo and has been awarded her full teaching certificate in 2017.
The only formally documented recipient of Jou, Tsung Hwa's legacy is Loretta Wollering.
